index studio-the beginning

Index Studio began as my high school passion project. This store was inspired by two things: my mom's designer brands and my international upbringing. Many of my friends ask me where I got my clothes, and I'd say "my mom's brand" -- we lived in Shanghai before, and my mom didn't have any way to sell her products here in the US.

Index Studio started in my sophomore year of high school as a passion project. It was inspired by two things: my mom’s designer brands and my international upbringing.
Friends always asked where I got my clothes, and I’d say, “My mom’s brand.” We used to live in Shanghai, but she didn’t have a way to sell her designs in the U.S.
During my travels, I noticed a common issue—talented designers couldn’t reach international customers, and shoppers had no way to buy the unique pieces they found abroad.

So I created Index Studio to connect global fashion lovers.
But really, I started because I wanted to help my mom.
we started with 3 brands:

I selected pieces from the stores in China and featured them on our U.S. website. Each season, we shipped in a new collection—clothing, jewelry, and accessories— from Shanghai to LA.

These events taught me a lot—especially how to speak with confidence. It wasn’t always fun (like when no one stopped by for 30 minutes), but it was always meaningful.
The best part: Connecting with people and hearing their stories!

In return for selling their products, we helped brands by creating original photo content.
My friends and I modeled the items and sent the photos to the brands. Soon, we started receiving pictures from people around the world—each one adding to the global story of Index Studio!
